Canva AI vs Adobe Firefly for creating visual assets
Two creative suites compared for making, editing, and handing off presentations, campaign assets, images, and short video. This guidance is based on company pages linked from the profiles below.
Which tool fits your work?
Start with Canva AI if
You create presentations, social assets, documents, and short video in a shared design workspace.
Look elsewhere if: You need a specialist video pipeline, developer-facing media API, or offline capabilities beyond Canva Offline's essential editing and local-image work.
Start with Adobe Firefly if
The workflow already uses Adobe products and spans images, video, audio, or design.
Look elsewhere if: Generated video is the main output and you need deeper control over sequences.

A free plan is available. Canva describes Pro as primarily for solo creators and lists it at $144 per year for one person. Business, its plan for growing teams and shared workspaces, is $250 per person per year. Enterprise pricing is custom. Tax is extra; monthly and regional prices can differ, and existing Teams customers may retain account-specific pricing.
A free plan includes limited daily generations. Standard is $9.99 monthly, Pro $19.99, Pro Plus has a regular price of $49.99 monthly, and Premium has a regular price of $199.99 monthly.

Where it runs
Hosted service from Canva. Canva Offline lets designs made available for offline use keep essential editing and local-image work available without a connection, then syncs changes after reconnection.
Start with Canva AI when presentations, social assets, documents, and video should stay in Canva's editor. Start with Adobe Firefly when image, video, audio, and design work should continue through compatible Adobe Creative Cloud products.
How will you keep the brief and brand style consistent through revisions?
Canva describes Canva AI as applying a Brand Kit automatically and supporting conversational refinement plus edits to individual elements. Adobe describes Firefly controls for style, lighting, color, and composition, and Custom Models trained on an organization’s assets. Canva’s page also labels Canva AI 2.0 updates “Coming Soon,” and the overview pages do not map every named control to a plan. Treat these as company-described controls, not proof that either preserves a subject or style reliably across revisions; test one representative brief in the exact plan and model before choosing.
Start with a normal month’s media and model mix: Canva uses and Adobe credits are not equivalent. Canva Pro's shared monthly AI allowance is up to 2,000 Standard, 200 Premium, or 20 Ultra uses; Business allows 4,000 Standard, 400 Premium, or 40 Ultra. These are alternative capacities from one shared pool, not additive quotas. Pro and Business can add a recurring AI Pass. Canva's public AI Pass page does not state a price; after that Pass's monthly allowance is exhausted, Canva says premium AI can continue with short pauses. Firefly Standard includes 2,000 monthly credits; Pro includes 4,000 plus Adobe Express Premium and full Photoshop on web and mobile. If those apps matter and you do not already license them, compare against Firefly Pro. Use the price row above when choosing.
What video resolution and export format must you deliver?
Canva says its video editor downloads a high-resolution MP4 but does not publish a pixel resolution on that page. Firefly’s video editor exports completed projects as MP4 at 720p, 1080p, or 4K. Adobe labels that editor beta and currently supports it on Chrome and Edge; Firefox, Safari, and other browsers may not provide every feature. Confirm the Canva export in the editor when a specific pixel resolution is required.
Canva library content and third-party apps can carry separate terms. Canva says its privacy settings control whether data may improve AI services; Business, Teams, and Enterprise content, plus content from students using Canva Education, is not used for that purpose. Inputs may still be shared with Canva technology partners to provide an AI feature. Adobe says Firefly-model output may be used commercially and content in its apps is not used to train Adobe or partner generative AI models; using a partner model sends that provider the prompt and any reference files. Commercial-use permission is not IP indemnity and does not by itself mean the provider will cover an IP claim. Canva’s general AI terms put lawful use and risk on the user; Canva separately says eligible enterprise customers receive indemnification for IP claims stemming from content made with Magic Studio, but its public Canva Shield page does not define exact eligibility or coverage terms. Adobe’s Firefly coverage applies only when the customer agreement links to its product description and the feature, surface, qualifying plan, and export event are eligible. Beta, trial, and non-Adobe-model features are excluded unless separate partner-model coverage applies. Check the signed agreement, model, feature, and export path before client delivery.
