Limits to check

• Chat uploads allow up to 20 files and 500 MB per file. Project files are capped at 30 MB each. Anthropic's Projects guide says projects nearing the context window automatically switch to RAG, expanding capacity by up to 10× while retrieving only material it considers relevant instead of loading everything at once. Its upload guide still says total project content must fit the context window; the two pages do not reconcile that wording.
• Claude accepts PDF, DOCX, CSV, TXT, HTML, ODT, RTF, EPUB, JSON, and XLSX documents; XLSX uploads require code execution and file creation.
• Code execution and file creation are available on all Claude plans. Claude can analyze uploaded data and create downloadable XLSX, PPTX, DOCX, PDF, and PNG files; this workflow limits uploads and downloads to 30 MB per file.
• Claude analyzes text and visual elements in PDFs of 100 pages or fewer. PDFs of 101 to 1000 pages are processed as text only; PDFs over 1000 pages cannot be uploaded.
• Usage limits apply and vary by plan.
• Connectors and workspace controls depend on the account and plan.
• Web search is available on Free and includes direct citations. Claude's separate multi-search Research mode requires Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise and web search turned on; it can search the web and connected Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs. Check decisive sources.
• Cowork requires a paid plan; working with a local repository requires Claude Desktop and explicit folder access.
• For Free, Pro, and Max, Anthropic says it uses chats and coding sessions for model improvement when the user chooses to allow it, when conversations are flagged for safety review, or through another explicit training opt-in. If model improvement is enabled, new or resumed chats and coding sessions may remain de-identified in training pipelines for up to five years. Turning it off blocks past and new chats from future training, but not training already underway or completed; Incognito chats are excluded. Claude for Work inputs and outputs are not used for training by default, but explicit feedback or permission can be used.
