Start with Gemini Notebook when the durable unit of work is a bounded notebook: add sources, include or exclude them for a question, and reuse that collection. It is not limited to sources you already have. Fast Research searches the web or Drive, lets you review results, and imports the items you select. Deep Research shows its report plus cited and uncited relevant sources before you choose what to import. Start with Perplexity when the first step is an open-web question answered with source links. Its Projects can keep searches, files, instructions, connected tools, and prioritized web links or domains together.
